WorleyParsons appoints new USAC National Power Sector director

WorleyParsons announced the appointment of Richard Brown, PhD, PE, as vice president, USAC National Power Networks Strategy director. Brown will provide leadership and market strategy for the rapidly growing national Power Networks sub-sector.

Brown will leverage the broad capabilities and resources of WorleyParsons to best meet its customers’ needs. By collaborating with the regionalized centers of excellence as well as the Smart Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy Advisory Services and the Global Power Networks sub-sector directors he will help generate progressive solutions for Power Networks customers.

Brown’s internationally recognized expertise in power network reliability, asset management, and smart grid applications introduces a valued perspective necessary in today’s power market. He has published, presented and taught extensively on these topics, and is author of the books, “Electric Power Distribution Reliability” and “Business Essentials for Utility Engineers.” He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a registered professional engineer. He earned his BSEE, MSEE and PhD degrees from the University of Washington, and his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Brown previously served as the senior vice president of Operations for Quanta Technology, where he was a founding member and responsible for strategy, strategy implementation and operations. He also served as vice president of Asset Management at KEMA, the director of Technology for the consulting division of ABB, and a design engineer at Jacobs Engineering.
